LMCC- Who is your biggest inspiration?
TRUTH- My biggest inspiration is my children. I put in the work now to make life easier for them later. Musically, I'm my own inspiration. I'm consistently trying to be a better me.
LMCC- What was it like growing up in Harlem?
TRUTH - Man, it was awesome! When I was coming up Dip-Set cookouts was still in. I could always run into my favorite rappers or NBA superstars in Harlem. Watching that lifestyle at a young age showed me everything I desired to be. Legendary
LMCC- What is the story behind the name Young Truth?
TRUTH- Truth was kind of a name that stuck with me. I have a few reasons why but one of the reasons was because of my mom. She would always tell me I need to learn how to tell a lie or two because I was always so blunt and honest. As a kid I always told on myself too. The 'Young' part came from Jay Z. He called himself 'Young Hov' so I ran with Young Truth.
LMCC- How do you currently feel about the state of Hip Hop ?
TRUTH- I don't feel it's as diverse as it used to be. When I first started listening to Hip-Hop I could switch from gangsta rap, then conscious rap and back to hardcore rap. Now I'm force to listen to 98% of rappers that sound alike or trying to sound like Future or Fetty Wap. The music is cool but there's no diversity. I listen to my peers mostly.
LMCC- What do you think sets you aside from other artists on a indie level?
TRUTH- I have that diverse sound that music is lacking and I also have substance and subject matter most are losing sight of. Secondly, I don't use profanity or say the N word in music.
LMCC- Who would you say is your top 5 fav hip hop artist of all time?
TRUTH - Of all time? Here's my top 5 in order. Jay Z, Nas, Tupac, Q-Tip and J. Cole
LMCC- What is it like balancing fatherhood and being an artist?
TRUTH - I'm blessed to have the support of my mom and grandma. It's times I may have my son but have a big show to attend to. I can always depend on my mom or grandma to hold it down. For the most part, my son is with me at studio sessions and videoshoots. My daughter lives down south with her mom so my baby girl is not really a challenge with balancing.
LMCC- If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive; who would it be?
TRUTH - I'd have dinner with Tupac just for the conversation. That man was full of knowledge. I know I'd leave that dinner table with gems that'll last a lifetime.
LMCC - If you had to choose between true love and being exactly where you wanted to be in your career, what would you choose?
TRUTH - I really had to put thought into this. I'll honestly have to say to be exactly where I want to be in my career because even thinking about not being satisfied in my career makes me angry. I don't think I would be able to love a woman correctly if I'm not happy about where I'm at in my life or my career.
LMCC- What is your ultimate goal in life?
TRUTH - ultimate goal is to simply take care of my family while doing what I love and never having to work a job that makes me miserable. I'll be comfortable with that! If I get something bigger than that then that'll be great.
LMCC - What can we expect from Young Truth, up and coming?
TRUTH - You can expect bigger shows, more merch, more videos, more music and more people talking about me on your timeline! Just expect more of me because I ain't letting up.
